Introduction to the style of Kutani ware: The "Kokutani" style, which originated with Goto Saijiro approximately 360 years ago, was promoted around the Bunka era (1655) by the Daishoji Domain. It was guided by the renowned Kano school master painter Morikage Kusumi, using a palette of five colors: blue (green), yellow, red, purple, and dark blue. The bold composition, artistically completed with free yet delicate lines, can be said to represent the quintessential style of Kutani ware.
Kutani ware is highly regarded worldwide as one of Japan's three major colored porcelain wares and is recognized as a representative traditional craft of Japan, "Japan Kutani."
Perfect for your Instagram! This is a single piece from the popular Seiko Kiln's "Mamezara Masterpiece Collection."
