Introduction to the painting style of Kutani ceramics: Early Kutani, known as "Ko-Kutani," was promoted by the Daishoji Domain around the Keian era (1655) and founded by Goho Saijiro (approximately 360 years ago). It was influenced by the master painter Kano Mokuji, known for his Japanese painting style, and features a palette of five colors: blue (green), yellow, red, purple, and navy blue. The bold composition, completed in a pictorial manner, combined with free yet delicate lines, can be described as the most characteristic style of Kutani.
Kutani ceramics are highly regarded globally as one of Japan's top three colored porcelain types and as a representative traditional craft of Japan, known as 'Japan Kutani.'
