Introduction to the painting style of Kutani ware: The "Kokutani" style, founded by Gotō Saijirō (about 360 years ago), was promoted by the Daishoji Domain around the Meireki era (1655). It was influenced by the master of Japanese painting, Kanō school’s Morikage Kusumi, and utilizes the five colors of blue (green), yellow, red, purple, and dark blue. This style features boldly composed, beautifully finished paintings with free yet delicate lines, making it one of the most characteristic styles of Kutani.
Kutani ware is highly regarded worldwide as one of Japan's three major color-painted ceramics and as a representative traditional craft of Japan, known as "Japan Kutani."
Perfect for Instagram! This is the "Bean Plate Masterpiece Collection (single item)" from the popular Kōkō kiln. It is a palm-sized dish ideal for everyday use, serving as a soy sauce plate or for dividing dishes. The Bean Plate Masterpiece Collection features designs of renowned Kutani ware pieces that you would find in a museum, created beautifully on small plates. This stylish Japanese tableware will add elegance to your dining table!
