Founded in 1818, we have a history of over 200 years during which we have honed our expertise in carefully selecting tea leaves. Our matcha features a unique quality known as “first tea” (ichibancha), rich in the umami component theanine, offering a sweet and refreshing aroma. This is a rare single-origin matcha, limited to specific varieties and farms, and not blended.

Our high-quality matcha can be enjoyed in both forms of traditional Japanese tea ceremony: “koicha” (thick tea) and “usucha” (thin tea). It is certified organic by Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and is free from pesticides, chemical fertilizers, and coloring agents.

Gohiko matcha is produced without any compromises, from leaf selection to manufacturing. The tea leaves, grown under shaded cultivation methods, are abundant in theanine, providing a pleasant bitterness balanced with rich umami that releases an aromatic fragrance upon whisking. Additionally, the leaves are finely ground using a stone mill, resulting in a smooth texture.

This matcha is perfect for formal tea ceremonies, special occasions, or as an exquisite addition to matcha lattes and desserts, making it a wonderful gift option.
