Introduction to Kutani Ware Technique: Ginsai (Silver Decoration) - an unparalleled color that cannot be fully described in words. This design involves applying transparent glaze or overglazing with five-color glazes over a layer of silver leaf. It features a calm brilliance, a gentle glow, and a glass-like texture. Despite its dazzling appearance, this technique is quite labor-intensive, requiring an extra firing in the kiln compared to standard methods. It should be noted that it is not true silver leaf; the technique uses a very luxurious method that is about seven times thicker than typical silver leaf to prevent it from melting.
Kutani ware is highly regarded worldwide as one of Japan's three major colored porcelain and as a representative traditional craft of Japan, "Japan Kutani."
