Introduction to Kutani ware's painting style: The early period of "Kokutani," founded by Goto Saijiro (approximately 360 years ago), was promoted by the Daishoji clan around the Meireki era (1655). Under the guidance of the master painter Kano Masakage from the Kanō school of Japanese painting, it features a palette of five colors: blue (green), yellow, red, purple, and deep blue. The style is characterized by bold compositions that are artistically completed, with lines that are both free and delicate, representing the most distinctive aspects of Kutani ware. Kutani ware is highly regarded both as one of Japan's three major painted ceramics and as a representative traditional craft, "Japan Kutani," on a global scale.
