Silver Camellia Pair Rice Bowls – Kutani Ware by Waza no Kura

Product description

Rice Bowls (Sizes: Large - Diameter 12 cm x Height 5.2 cm; Small - Diameter 11.2 cm x Height 4.8 cm) are presented in a special gift box. Made in Japan (Ishikawa Prefecture) from Kutani porcelain, these bowls showcase the Ginsai technique, distinguished by a lavish color that cannot be fully captured in words. The design involves applying transparent glaze or colored glaze over thick silver leaf, resulting in a calm brilliance and a gentle luster with a glass-like texture. This intricate method requires an extra firing process than usual, underscoring the craftsmanship involved. Importantly, the silver used is not actual silver leaf, but a thicker version to prevent melting. Kutani ware is globally recognized as one of Japan's top traditional crafts and is celebrated for its exquisite color designs. These rice bowls make ideal gifts for various occasions, including weddings, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Senior Citizen’s Day, retirements, and celebrations of longevity such as 60th and 77th birthdays.
