Introduction to the Painting Style of Kutani Ware: "Kokutani," originating from the early period of Goto Saijiro (about 360 years ago), was promoted by the Daishoji Domain around the Meireki era (1655). It was influenced by the famous painter of the Kano school, Kusumi Moritake, utilizing the five colors of blue (green), yellow, red, purple, and deep blue. The bold compositions that are artistically completed, along with the free yet delicate lines, can be considered the most characteristic style of Kutani.
As one of Japan’s three major color-painted ceramics, Kutani ware is globally recognized as a representative traditional craft of Japan, known as "Japan Kutani."
