Introduction to the Art Style of Kutani Ware: The "Old Kutani" style (Kokutani) was promoted by the Daishoji Domain around the Meireki period (1655) and originated from the early work of Gotō Saijirō (approximately 360 years ago). It was influenced by the renowned painter of the Kanō school, Kōsumi Morikage, and employs five colors: blue (green), yellow, red, purple, and dark blue. The bold compositions are artistically completed with free yet delicate lines, making this perhaps the most characteristic style of Kutani ware.
Kutani ware is highly regarded globally as one of Japan's three major color-painted ceramics and is recognized as a representative traditional craft of Japan, known as "Japan Kutani."
This is the "Bean Plate Masterpiece Collection (Single Item)" from the popular kiln Seiko-yaki, perfect for Instagram! It is an ideal palm-sized dish for everyday use as a soy sauce plate or for serving dishes. The Bean Plate Masterpiece Collection features designs of representative masterpieces of Kutani ware, akin to those you might find in an art museum, in small bean plates. They are stylish Japanese tableware that brighten up your dining table!
