Introduction to the Painting Style of Kutani Ware: The early Kutani, known as "Kokutani," was promoted by the Daishoji Domain around the time of Meireki (1655) under the guidance of the renowned Japanese painter Kano Sōkei. It employs five colors: blue (green), yellow, red, purple, and deep blue. The bold composition, artistically completed with free yet delicate lines, is said to represent the quintessential style of Kutani.
As one of Japan's three major colored porcelain ceramics, Kutani ware is highly esteemed worldwide as a representative traditional craft of Japan, known as 'Japan Kutani.'
