Introduction to Kutani ware techniques: Ginsai (Silver Glaze) – a supreme color that words alone cannot express. This design features transparent glaze or five-color glaze applied over a layer of silver. It is characterized by a subdued brilliance, gentle shimmer, and a glass-like texture. Contrary to its visually striking appearance, this technique requires an additional firing in the kiln, making it quite intricate. *To be precise, it is not actual silver foil. Due to its thinness, it would melt, so this technique uses a very luxurious thickness that is about seven times thicker than standard silver foil.
