Kohiki glaze often shows small black specks formed by iron in the clay during firing, which add character. The underside of the ceramic is somewhat rough, so take care to avoid scratching tables and other surfaces.

About pottery (earthenware) — even when fired using the same technique and kiln, final appearance can vary slightly because of natural minerals in the clay and glazes and changing weather conditions. Unlike industrial products, pieces will not be identical. Handmade irregularities, kiln effects, fine glaze crazing (crazes), drips, etc., are normal and are considered acceptable characteristics of earthenware. Please understand this before purchasing.
